Chicago — Chicago Police have a 20-year-old man in custody who allegedly struck three pedestrians while attempting to run from an accident with another motor vehicle. Luckily, the sole occupant of the other vehicle was not seriously injured. However, two out of the three pedestrians suffered severe injuries. The incident took place around 1:50 a.m. in the 2300-block of North Milwaukee Avenue on Chicago’s Northwest side on Saturday, November 10, 2018,according to The Chicago Sun-Times.

Officers patrolling the northwest side of Chicago arrested a 20-year-old male in connection with a hit-and-accident that, but for a stroke of luck, was not fatal. The other driver, a 35-year-old male, remained at the scene. Meanwhile, the 20-year-old tried to take off and in doing so jumped the curb and slammed into three people innocently standing on the sidewalk who witnessed the previous accident.

The fleeing driver struck a 29-year-old woman, a 33-year-old male, and a 27-year-old man, all of whom were standing on the sidewalk. The police said that the two malesexperienced very seriousinjuries and were listed in serious condition at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Police reported that the 33-year-old malehad suffered injuries to his leg and his foot. The woman fared much better. She suffered a bruised leg. Physicians treated her at the Stroger Hospital and discharged her shortly after arrival.

Chicago police arrested the 20-year-old driver at the scene of the crash. Charges are now pending against him, although they did not specify the exact charges. There was no information about his bond status nor was there any indication given by police as to why he attempted to run from the initial car crash.
