MORRIS, IL- The morrisherald.com reports that emergency services were called to the scene of a construction site accident at about 11:24 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018.
The construction crew was reportedly working on a sewer trench at a residential structure. The trench was around 7 ½ feet deep when the side wall collapsed with oneof the workers inside. The worker was pushed against one wall of the trench from the force of the other wall caving in. The call to 911 was immediately made by witnesses.
The area around where the victim was trapped needed to be stabilized prior to extracting the victim. The worker was identified as a 49-year-old, who was said to have been alert and conscious while emergency crews worked on the rescue. A medical helicopter was viewed at the site standing by to take the victim to the hospital once he was removed from the trench.
Roadways in the area were shut down during the rescue operation.
