DECATUR, IL. – October 30, 2018 (herald-review.com) According to an online news report from herald-review.com, the Macon County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died October 29 in a single-vehicle accident in Decatur, Illinois.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m. on October 29 on Greenswitch Road in Decatur. At the intersection with Hickory Point Road, a 38-year-old man from Oreana, Illinois, somehow crashed his vehicle. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The man has now been identified by the Macon County Coroner as Michael D. Smith, 38, of Oreana. It is still not clear how the accident occurred, and no other information has been reported about the circumstances of the accident. No other vehicles were involved. The Macon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash and has requested a routine toxicology analysis from the Coroner’s Office
