Across the United States, traffic fatalities have continuedto rise. A study involving 29 countries across the globe showed that the US wasoneof just fivecountries that saw traffic-related fatalities increase between 2010 and 2016. The increase seen in the US was the highest with a 13.5% jump in traffic deaths. In the country with the second-highest increase, Argentina, the number of people killed in car accidents rose by 9%.

Two main factors seem to be fueling traffic deaths in the US. First, the economy has improved, and the result is more cars are now on US roadways. The second factor is distracted driving.
