WOODSTOCK, IL- Patch.com writes that three men died in a crash in McHenry County on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at about 3:22 in the morning. The victims were traveling in a Jeep when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the side of Lily Pond Road.*
The vehicle was a 1994 Jeep Cherokee. The have been identified as 20-year-old Ryan K. Fleming, 20-year-old Quinlan M. Hartney and 21-year-old Daisen T. Hollands. All of the victims were declared dead at the site of the crash.
Reports indicate that none of the men were using their seatbelts at the time of the crash. The cause of death for all three victims was blunt force trauma.
One person survived the crash and was rushed to the Northwestern Hospital in Huntly. The injured individual was then transferred to the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where his condition was reported as serious. The surviving victim’s name was not released.
At the time of the crash, the roads were slick, and it was foggy out. The vehicle was traveling above the speed limit, which was 45 miles per hour. All of these issues factored into the collision according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. It is not yet clear whether alcohol was also involved in the crash.
The Jeep did not have airbags.
The crash is still being investigated.
