BLUE ISLAND, IL- The chicago.suntimes.com writes that a pedestrian was killed by a driver who fled the scene of the crash on Friday, November 30, 2018, in Blue Island, Illinois.
Reports indicate that the vehicle involved was traveling northbound on Western Avenue when the driver veered off of the road at about 7:20 in the evening, and struck a person walking on the sidewalk. The driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The victim was identified as Francis Mihalovits, 30 of Blue Island. Mihalovits was taken to the MetroSouth Medical Center where he was declared dead. The death was declared an accident.
The vehicle that struck the victim had a woman and two children traveling in it as passengers. The woman and children were taken to the hospital as a precaution, though they did not seem to have sustained any injuries.
The investigation determined that the person driving the vehicle had just carried out theftin Posen. The police are requesting that anyone with information about the crash come forward.
