ELWOOD, IL- According to wjol.com, a semi-truck was involved in an intersection collision at Elwood International Port Road and Arsenal Road. The accident occurred around 6:23 a.m.on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
The crash occurred when the semi, which was traveling south on Elwood International Port Road, ran through a red traffic light at the intersectionwith Arsenal Road. The truck hit a 2006 Chrysler sedan that was traveling east on Arsenal. The force of the collision caused the truck toricochet and strike a 2014 Dodge van that was in the left turn lane onElwood International Port Road.
Four individuals were takento local hospitals with injuries that are considered serious, but not life-threatening.
The collision caused the closure of Elwood International Port Road in both directions.
The truck involved was a 2007 Mack semi owned by the Allecap Transportation company, which is basedout of Markham, Illinois. The driver of the semi received three citations and hasa mandatory court date which is setfor August 10, 2018.
