Investigation Into Chicago Hit-and-Run Involving Pedestrians Leads to Arrests

Chicago — Chicago Police apprehended a hit-and-run suspect after he collided with three people standing on a sidewalk in Logan Square while trying to run from the original car accident. The early-morning accidents occurred in an area denselypopulated with revelers who packed the popularstrip of barrooms located in Logan Square. The incident took place around 1:50 a.m.on Saturday, November 10, 2018, according to the Chicago Tribune. Police have the suspected perpetrator in custody.

Police have not learned why a 20-year-old driver attempted to run away from a car accident at the 2300-block of North Milwaukee Avenue. The investigating officers from the Chicago Police Department said that the driver tried to escape from a collision with the first vehicle and lost controlover his car. His car hopped the curb and violently crashed into three people congregating on the sidewalk in the immediate vicinity of the first collision.

The operator remained at the site of the collisionwith the pedestrians. Police took him into custody upon arrival at the scene.

Two of the pedestrians suffered severe injuries. One man, a 33-year-old, was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with lower extremity injuries to his leg and foot. Also, a 27-year-old male suffered severe injuries when hit by the fleeing vehicle. Chicago police said that the injuries to the 27-year-old man were severeand the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center also listed him in serious condition. However, police declined to describe his injuries in any detail. Chicago police did not provide an update on the conditionof either of the victims.

A third person, a 29-year-old female, went to Stroger Hospital and received a diagnosis of a bruised leg. The hospital staff treated and released her after being examined.

The driver will face a litany of charges. However, police did not release which charges the young man might face nor did they say if alcohol was a component in the accident.
