Litchfield Woman Killed While Walking Her Dog

LITCHFIELD, Illinois — Illinois State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident in Litchfield that happened around 9:10 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018, according to the journal-news.net. Police have cited the driver of the pickup that struck the woman and her dog for failing to drive an insured car. No other charges have issued to this point,andthe Illinois State Police have the cause of the crash under investigation.

Illinois State Police say that 46-year-old Lorie McDonald of Litchfield was walking along the west side of the intersection of Illinois Route 16 and Monroe Street with her dog when 31-year-old Nathan Glover also from Litchfield driving easterly plowed into her. The crash reportedly occurred around 9:10 p.m. The Montgomery County coroner said that hospital personnel pronounced her dead at 9:45 p.m. that same night. The coroner’s office conducted an autopsy on Monday,November 12, 2018,but did not release the results to the media.

Accident reconstruction specialists from the Illinois State Police will perform a thorough investigation to determine what happened and whether Mr. Glover should face additional criminal charges. The Illinois State Police did not give a time frame as to when they expect their investigation to be completed.

Ms. McDonald was a highly regarded member of the Litchfield community and a dedicated professional. She was the director of the Lincoln Land Community College’s Litchfield campus. Ms. McDonald performed those duties since 2014. The president of Lincoln Land Community College described Ms. McDonald as a leader who earned respectand admiration of colleagues and students alike. Ms. McDonald was recognized by others as someone who loved the work that she did and was a sterling member of her professional community and her residential community as well.

Lincoln Land Community College provided grief counselors for its employees and students as well.
