IL- The centredaily.com reports that two people were killed in a collision on Interstate 80 last Saturday, October 27, 2018. The crash involved a car and a large truck.
The victims have since been identified as 46-year-old Aybek Kuchkarov and 65-year-old Patilakhon Omonova, who were both residents of Streamwood, Illinois.
The accident report indicates that Kuchkarov was driving eastbound in a Toyota Camry and lost control of the vehicle. The Camry slid from the left lane to the far right lane where it struck the south bermand then veered back across both traffic lanes before striking the north side’s guardrails. The car then veered back to the right where it was involved in a collision with the truck.
Both occupants of the Camry died at the scene of the crash. The report indicates that Kuchkarov was not using a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The passenger in the front seat of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. This individual has not yet been identified.
The crash occurred at around 9:29 in the morning and caused the closure of I-80’s eastbound lanes for approximately three hours. The interstate was opened again by a little after 1 in the afternoon.
Large truck accidents killed a total of 3,986 people in 2016. The victims in large truck accidents are often people traveling in passenger vehicles. In 2016, passenger vehicle occupants made up 66 percent of all large truck accident victims. The occupants of large trucks are rarely killed in crashes with smaller vehicles. In collisions between large trucks and passenger vehicles, the victims were occupants of the smaller vehicle 97 percent of the time. The occupants of large trucks are more likely to be killed in crashes with other large trucks.
