Multi-Vehicle Collision Leads to Two Being Airlifted in Williamson County Illinois

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL- Bnd.com reports that a multi-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 13 was caused by a teen driver. The crash, which occurred at about 2:56 p.m. on May 28, 2018, involved a 2001 Dodge Caravan which was driven by Brayden A. Wallace, 17, of Harrisburg.

The Caravan hit the back end of a 2006 Honda Civic sending the car off ofthe road and into a ditch. The Dodge was westbound when the collision occurred, and according to witnesses, it was traveling at high speed.

After colliding with the Honda, the Caravan traveled through the median and hit a 2005 Jeep Wrangler that was heading east in a head-on collision. The crash caused the Jeep to flip onto its side. Beth E. Griffin, 54, was driving the Jeep at the time of the collision. She was transportedto a local hospital.

The 47-year-old driver of the Honda, Tara L. Sherrod, suffered injuries in the accident and was taken to a local hospital as well. Sherrod’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. A passengertraveling in the Honda, 27-year-old Dana L. Duvall, was taken to the hospital via airlift. The nature of Duvall’s injuries is unknown at this time.

Wallace was also airliftedto a hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. The teen is facing several citations for his part in the collision, including improper lane usage, driving on a suspended license, and failing toreduce speed to prevent a crash.

The crash caused lane closures of both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Illinois 13.
