BOND COUNTY, Ill. — A young man from Highland County, Illinois died in a single-carcrash onSaturday, November 10, 2018, according to the mdjonline.com. The preliminary investigation conducted by the responding police officers suggested that 22-year-old Gavin C. Twisty went off of the road surface and collided with a light pole.Police continue to inquire into the case.
Police said that Mr. Twitty drove his 2008 black Chevrolet off the side of Illinois Route 127 in Bond County, just north of Greenville. Officers noted that the time of the crash was around 11:30 p.m. Greenville Fire and Rescue Personnel responded and removed Mr. Twitty from the wreckage. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the crash site.
The Bond County Coroner’s Office said that the information they gleaned from the accident scene indicated that Mr. Twitty was driving northerly on Illinois Route 127 just south of Baumberger Avenue went his car went off of the road. The coroner’s office had not determined the cause of death but will perform an autopsy.
Police have not determined why Mr. Twitty lost control over his car and went off the road. Investigators could look into the whether Mr. Twitty lost control due to inebriation, distracted driving, or fatigued driving. There is always a possibility that another vehicle or animal contributed to the accident as well.Police have not claimed whether any of thosefactors are germane to their investigation, butthey did not rule any of them out either.
An online obituary described Mr. Tiwtty as a recent graduated of Hillsboro High School, located in Hillsboro, Illinois. He was a member and the Illinois National Guard, worked nights at a local UPS depot, and was matriculatingat Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. The obituary did not include a major course of study or what year Mr. Twitty achieved in school.
