Ten Injured in Bus Crash in in Chicago’s Far South Side

CHICAGO — A collision between two buses in Chicago’s Far South Side resulted in ten people suffering injuries, including one person who suffered critical injuries in the incident. The Chicago Sun-Timesreported that the incident transpired on Monday, November 12, 2018,around 9:10 p.m. Chicago police investigators along with agents from the Chicago Transit Authority are investigating.*

Chicago police investigators learned that a Pace bus collided with the Chicago Transit Bus no. 3 as the Pace bus turned southerly onto Woodlawn Avenue. The CTA bus was headed easterly in the area of the 1500 block of East 103rdStreet. A spokeswoman for Pace said that the CTA bus slammed into the rear of the Pace bus. Photographs taken at the accident scene show therear of the Pace bus crushed while the photos show the front, right side of the CTA bus damaged as well.

Neither driver suffered any injuries in the incident. However, several passengers suffered varying degrees of injury. Among the four passengers taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, one was in critical condition, one passenger was in fair condition, and two others were listed as in good condition.

Emergency medical personnel transported two passengers to Roseland Community Hospital. The hospital listed one passenger in fair condition and the other in good condition. Another four people received emergency transport to Trinity Hospital where all four were listed in fair condition. The overwhelming majority of the injured people were riding on the Pace bus. None of the injuries are expected to be life-threatening.

Medics interviewed nine people at the scene of the accident who declined medical treatment.

Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Unit took over the investigation for responding officers. Their investigation is not complete, andthey have not issued any citations at this point.
