Three People Lucky To Be Alive After Wrong-Way Crash in Sibley, Illinois

CHICAGO — The driver of a semi-truck and two other people escaped death Saturday, August 25,2018, in a wrong way collision in Sibley, just south of Chicago according to NBCChicago.com. Illinois state police troopers reported that the operator of vehicledrove northbound in the southbound lanes. The wrong way driver slammed into the semi-truck.

This potentially catastrophic crash happened around 4:17 a.m. Saturday morning. The wreck occurred near 147thStreet. Illinois state police are still trying to figure out why the operator of a passenger car drove the wrong way on I-57. State police did not say where the driver entered I-57 heading northbound in the southbound lanes or why that driver was headedthe wrong way. State police did not indicate whether alcohol, drugs, fatigue, or age played any role in causing the crash.

Three people went to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the passenger car and the driver of the semi-truck are indeed lucky to be alive. There is no word yet regarding the completion of the Illinois State Police’s investigation or whether they will issue criminal charges for the wrong way driver.
