Two People Trapped in Vehicle in Kerby, Illinois

KERBY- Kdrv.com writes that a single-vehicle collision on  took place at about 4:21 in the afternoon on Monday, December 3, 2018.

The vehicle turned onto its side causing two of the people inside to become trapped. Another individual traveling in the vehicle was able to exit and assist one person in escaping the vehicle. Emergency crews then cut off the vehicle’s top and were able to extract the third person.

Two of the people sustained injuries and were taken to the Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

Rollover collisions include any car accidents that lead to the vehicle flipping onto its side or roof at any point during the crash. Many of these accidents only involve one vehicle, though there are times when the force of a collision with another vehicle causes a car to flip.

Vehicle rollovers are some of the most dangerous types of crashes on the road. Part of the reason for this is that they frequently lead to vehicle occupants being thrown or ejected from the vehicle. The likelihood of a person surviving a crash in which they are ejected from a vehicle is frighteningly low. Another risk is that people can collide with the vehicle’s roof.

The risk of being severely injured or dying in a rollover crash can be reduced by wearing a seatbelt. Seatbelts are the best way to avoid being ejected from a vehicle and also to avoid smashing into the roof as seatbelts hold a person in their seat.

While all vehicles have the potential to overturn, some vehicles are more likely to roll. The higher a vehicle’s center of gravity, the more likely a vehicle is to roll meaning that SUVs, vans, and pickup trucks flip more often than cars.
